THE PRIEST'S TALE is an adaptation by actor/playwright Michael Mears of one of the survivor’s accounts from John Hersey’s classic book HIROSHIMA (published by Penguin).

There will be an at a distance peace picnic in the Archbishop Tutu Peace Garden at Grove Park from 1.30 - 3pm to mark Nagasaki Day. There will be statements and poems.

There will be a silent vigil of 6 people at a distance, opposite the Churchill Theatre and then scattering of flowers on the lake in the Library Gardens to mark Hiroshima Day,

Nagasaki Day Peace Walk from Westminster Cathedral (timing tbc) to the London Peace Pagoda, followed by a Lantern-lighting ceremony at sunset.

12:00-13:00 – Parade through the city to Lister Park
13:00-15:00 – Picnic and Music at the Bandstand in Lister Park

Mid-Somerset CND & Peace Group are holding an evening candle float to commemorate the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings

A walk (estimated time 30 mins) between the two Peace Poles in Perth, St Ninian's Episcopal Cathedral North Methven Street to the Rodney Gardens, meet 2.15pm for 2.30 start.

Paisley MSP George Adam will address the gathering.
Meet at the park car park off Glasgow Rd at 5pm to walk together to the garden.

Annual event. A two-minute silence will be followed by spoken words and a chance to float chrysanthemum petals in the Kelvin river.

Aberdeen and District CND will hold a gathering to commemorate the bombing of Nagasaki outside Marshical College, Broad Street

Lantern floating ceremony to mark the anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima. This is a free event with campaign stalls, live music and refreshments.

Tavistock Peace Action Group will have a stall in Bedford Square, Tavistock, Devon, to commemorate victims of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombing.

The evening will be chaired by Dr Frank Boulton, with a short speech from Cllr Steven Barnes-Andrews, previous mayor of Southampton, then followed by a speech by Kate Hudson, national secretary of CND

This event has been held every year for forty years and is part of the official programme of the International Folk Week.
