Led by the Lord Mayor of Manchester, leading councillors, MPs and members of the Manchester peace and multi-faith communities. It will include an hour of readings, poetry and silent reflection for the 67th anniversary of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombings. The event is dedicated to remembering the innocent civilian victims of modern warfare. It will be held in front of the Abraham Lincoln statue in Manchester city centre. Lincoln Square is off Brasenose Street in the city centre and close to the Town Hall, which is connected to Albert Square and Deansgate. It is one of the sites of the Manchester City Centre Peace and Social Justice Trail. Copies of the Trail will be given out following the meeting for those that wish to walk it. All are very welcome to join us. Manchester is a Vice President of the Mayors for Peace, a 5,238 member city organisation led by the Mayors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki that calls for the abolition of nuclear weapons. It is one of the largest local government member groups in the world.
